WW2 British Limpet Mine
Relics quality wood and metal reproduction sea mine. This WW2 British Limpet Mine has a wood construction with metal fittings. No actual magnets are used in our replica.
The original was placed against the hulls of shipping by means of a 6ft long placing rod (not included).
The Limpet Mine usually contained 2lbs of plastic explosive, enough to penetrate the average battleship.
Steel grey finish, 41cm long, net weight 1.220 kg and with wood burnished bronzed finished detonator keys.

Under cover of darkness on the 26th of September 1943 Operation Jaywick took place by Z Special Unit, Australian Services Reconnaissance Department. Involving 6 British and 11 Australian army and naval personnel who placed the magnetic limpet mines on ships in Singapore harbour. During this operation, seven ships were sunk. Resulting in 30,000 tonnes of enemy shipping being lost and damaged.
